Singapore Moo-O Awards 2025

Registration will close either on 23 July 2025 or when 40 teams have registered.

Synopsis

This digital storytelling competition celebrates students’ ability to read aloud expressively in English through the Moo-O videos they create. The Awards aim to motivate young learners to improve their reading skills and nurture a lifelong love for the English language through a fun, engaging, and immersive reading experience.

Competition Instructions

  1. Team Formation
    Each school may nominate one team consisting of three Primary 2 students and one teacher-mentor.
  2. Pre-Competition Preparation
    • Teacher Briefing & Training: All teacher-mentors must attend an online session on 30 July 2025. Details will be emailed after registration closes.
    • Moo-O Accounts: Every participant, including the teacher-mentor, will be given a Moo-O account.
    • Practice Trial: A trial period will be provided for participants to familiarize themselves with the app.
    • No Prior Experience Needed: Participants do not need to be existing Moo-O users.
  3. On Competition Day
    • A set of story titles will be released in each team’s Moo-O account.
    • Each team must select only ONE story to record.
    • All three students must take on at least one role in the story.
    • Once the team has completed the video, they must publish it online as their final submission.
    • Only one video submission is allowed per team.
  4. Judging & Results

Silver Silver Award - 5 teams
Bronze Bronze Award - 5 teams

Prizes

  • Each winning team will receive a trophy for the school.
  • Each participating student in the winning teams will receive a medal and a Certificate of Achievement.
  • All other participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Judging Rubrics

Criteria Max Score Description
Fluency & Pronunciation 30 Evaluates clarity of speech, pacing, and smoothness of delivery
Expression 30 Captures emotional tone, emphasis, voice modulation, and facial expressions
Creativity 30 Looks at imaginative elements such as voice characterisation and how the story is brought to life through self-made sound effects, or interpretation
Technical Quality 10 Assesses the clarity of audio and visual presentation in the video
